It is with deep regret that I record the news of the sad demise of Sri BS Visweswaria(aka Mani) at Ahmedabad on 17th February 2013. He was 77. He leaves behind his wife, Vathsala, Sons Vijaykumar Bharatiya & Shiva Prasad(Bangkok) and daughter Vandana. He was our Doddamma’s(Radhe) brother & son of Astrologer Sri BR Srinivasiah.

It is with deep regret that I wish to record the sad demise of Sri BS Srinivasa rao of Southern Railway on Saturday, 16th Feb 2013 at Shekar Hospital Bangalore. He was 85 & is survived by his wife Smt Vasanthamala & son Arun Kumar & 2 daughters. His son is married to Sarsi’s husband’s sister’s daughter. His wife Vasanthamala is the maternal aunt of Kavya(Sadu’s daughter-in-law). May his soul rest in peace.

Regret to inform that Shri Subramanya of Kushalnagar ,( father of FS Prabhakara(USA) & Father-in-law of Geetha (daughter of Markand Rao) ) passed away at Mysore on Friday,1st Feb 2013. He was over 90. May his soul rest in peace.

   Smt Lakshmi Dhruvanarayan w/o Dr S. Dhruvanarayan passed away this morning at 1-30 AM. She was suffering from skin cancer for the past one year. She leaves behind two sons ( Dr.SD Subbarao & Nandakishore ) and two daughters ( Vanamala Dikshit & Sarala  ). May her soul rest in peace.

It is with deep regret that I record the sad demise of my good old friend Raghu, brother in law of my cousin Venkatram, this morning at FORTIS Hospital. He had returned from US just the day before yesterday. He was 70 & had undergone bypass surgery a few years back. He was also a diabetic. Cremation is scheduled to take place day after tomorrow(ie 7-1-2013) after his wife & son arrive from USA tomorrow.  May his soul rest in peace

It is with deep regret that I wish to inform you that Mrs Geetha Narasimhan, w/o Shri GR Narasimhan passed away at 10 pm last night ( 4th Jan 2013 ) at  her residence. She was ailing for some time. Cremation is at 10 AM today at the Wilson Garden crematorium. ( You may recall that Shri Narasimhan had passed away on 15th Oct 2011 ) May her soul rest  in peace.

I was sorry to learn of the sad demise of the Violin Maestro MS Gopalakrishnan this morning. He was 82 & leaves behind his 2 daughters & a son. May his soul rest in peace. News report from Hindu is appended below

Violin maestro Padma Bhushan M.S. Gopalakrishnan whose career spanned over 75 years died at a city hospital following complaints of breathlessness

Legendary violinist M.S. Gopalakrishnan, known for his sound knowledge of both, Carnatic and Hindustani music, passed away here around 2.00 am on Thursday. He was admitted to a city hospital following complaints of breathlessness on Wednesday evening. He was 82.

Hailing from the revered Parur lineage, MSG – as he was fondly referred to in music circles – had a remarkable career as an accompanist in his younger days. He later became one of the most important names in solo violin recitals – along with his contemporaries Lalgudi G. Jayaraman and T.N. Krishnan.

A recipient of several honours including the Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and the Sangita Kalanidhi title awarded by The Music Academy, MSG was a classic example of an artiste who was always open to new ideas and influences. His style can be seen as a seamless blend of the classical and Hindustani idioms. His musical contributions spanned over 75 years.

He is survived by his wife Meenakshi, daughter, violinist and prime disciple M. Narmadha, violinist-son Suresh and daughter Latha.

It is with deep regret that I wish to record the death of our dear pet dog Blackie on 20th Dec 2012(Thursday) at Pampapathi Veterinary Hospital JP Nagar Bangalore. He was suffering from stone in ureter & wasn’t able to pass urine. He was operated on the 15th Dec 2012, but his condition deteriorated as he had developed severe infection of the bladder, blood & lungs. His Haemoglobin % was also very low. He was admitted to  Pampapathi hospital on 12th Dec 2012.

It is with deep regret that I record the demise of Sri BS Subrahmanya, Secretary, Swami Vivekananda Educational Society on 18th Dec 2012. He was 75.He served the organization for over 15 years with utmost devotion & sincerity. He was a bachelor. He served as manager in the Mysore Bank before retirement. He was a great devotee of Ramakrishna Mission & also an excellent tour organizer. He was instrumental in organizing puppet shows on a firm footing & has done over 250 shows all over Karnataka. The Rotary Bangalore Hanumanthnagar had honoured him on the 29th July 2012. May his soul rest in peace
